WINDOW
SAMPLING
Window sampling is carried out by either trailer mounted percussive samplers
or hand held pneumatic samplers. Samples are recovered in seamless plastic
tubes, for logging by a suitably qualified engineer.
Window
sampling is suited to:-

Restricted access sites,
- Contamination
investigations,
- Where
disturbance must be kept to a minimum.
This
method is used in geotechnical and environmental investigations and allows
rapid recovery of a suitable volume of disturbed sample for chemical analysis
for a range of common contaminants and for classification tests such as
- Moisture
content,
- Plasticity
indices
- Grading
in fine-grained soils.
